Used to drain fluid from the pericardial sac. Use of standard percutaneous entry (Seldinger) technique facilitates controlled, atraumatic catheter introduction. Catheter material is radiopaque polyurethane. The “alligator clip” cable is attached to the hub of the needle for constant electrocardiographic monitoring during needle insertion.
